Heroes is back, and is promising for the third time not to suck anymore. If last night's episode is any indication, we very well might be on the right track. But Heroes is nothing if not inconsistent, so I'm not willing to start celebrating just yet.

(pre show)
Brother Bannon: So is this season 4, or the second half of season 3.
Fanatic Friend: It’s a fresh start!
BB: I’ll take that to mean season 4 then. If there’s no more time travel or people who can paint the future, I have high hopes for this season. And by high hopes I mean it might not be awful.
FF: There’s no way it’ll suck, it’s all new people writing it.
BB: I’m far from comforted.

(intro with Tracy getting kidnapped)
BB: SHOOT HER! SHOOT HER IN THE HEAD!
FF: Dude, they’re just trying to kidnap her, I don’t think they want to…
BB: IN THE HEAD!
FF: I forgot how much you hate Tracy.

(people start getting rounded up and captured left and right)

BB: Why did they capture Hiro? He doesnt' even have powers anymore.

FF: I don't think they know that yet. 

BB: Well he's going to prove real useful in the escape. And let me guess, they’re taking them all to Genosha Island.
FF: What’s that?
BB: It’s where they took them in X-Men, so it’s surely happening here.
FF: How many times do we have to have this conversation? Heroes is not X-Men.
BB: Correct, it’s a bad version of X-Men.

(Sylar dismantles anti-mutant SWAT team)
BB: Alright, that was pretty awesome.
FF: THAT never happened in X-Men.
BB: It absolutely did at some point. How many powers does Sylar have now anyways? He’s the only one that didn’t get them taken away.
FF: Um, telekinesis, healing, hearing, future painting, lightning, freezing, lie detection.
BB: Hah, lie detection. But that’s probably actually the most useful.
FF: False, telekinesis is the best. Always.
BB: I’m partial to super hearing myself.
FF: Why would you want that? That’s the worst power….oh, you’re being sarcastic
BB: Yep.

(all the captured people are causing a ruckus in the plane)
BB: Wait a second, why is Peter hanging on for dear life? He can fly.
FF: Hmm.
BB: Dumbass, let go! You’ll be fine.
FF: You know what, I think they changed his power.
BB: What? To what?
FF: He can only have one power at a time now, so now he has ice power since he touched Tracy, but he can’t fly anymore and lost Mohinder’s super strength.
BB: That’s crazy talk.

What do you think? I’m actually curious about this. Do you think Peter’s power changed? If so, that’s pretty significant. I’m sure they’ll come up with some BS scientific explanation for it next episode if that is the case.
