Will Tommy Tuberville Be Fired Or Live To See Next Season?

Will Tommy Tuberville Be Fired Or Live To See Next Season?

Is he in or is he out? Tommy Tuberville still doesn’t know.

The Auburn football coach’s position with the team is in a state of limbo as year-end reviews take place this week.

Why the worry? It probably has a little something to do with Auburn’s 5-6 season and 2008 being the first year since 1999 that the team didn’t qualify for a bowl game. Oh and remember that embarrassing loss slaughter at the hands of Alabama just last weekend? Auburn certainly does.

With all of this in mind, no doubt, athletic director Jay Jacobs met with Tuberville yesterday to discuss the program and his status. But nothing has been resolved just yet. The Montgomery Advertiser reports:

Jacobs met with assistants throughout the afternoon. Still, he said there have been no decisions made about Tuberville's future with the program.

"We'll meet again over the next couple of days," Jacobs said. "I'll let you know how it goes."

Jacobs added that he's aiming to resolve the matter this week.

Though no official decision has been made, with the stats of this seasons still painfully fresh in everyone’s mind, it’s not looking good for Tommy boy.

It shouldn't even be a question. 1 bad season doesn't warrant a fire, even if it is in the SEC. Posted 12/03/2008 2:57 PMReply

Supposedly Tuberville resigned - I doubt that - the university just wants to look good. Furthermore, I am so sure they would pay him 6M for resigning!!!
How sorry is that to fire the man after ONE bad season!!!

Did the federal bailout money to Colonial Bank help the banker finally get the money to buyout Tuberville's comment? He's been trying for years! Posted 12/03/2008 8:45 PMReply
