Word to the Photo Gallery Haters

I felt I had to step in for a second here judging by the feedback I’ve seen on the site.

I think that most of you are under the impression that people are just posting pictures of their nights out on OTR now. That’s not the case. OTR has a new thing where we’re hiring a few photographers to go around and take photos at parties and events at schools across the country. So this is NOT just some random person. I don’t personally know the Michigan photographers, but one of them is named “fratastrophe” so I approve.

If you think a photo gallery at Skeeps sucks, feel free to write in about places they should go or events you think they should cover. I personally am delighted I get to see pictures like the one I’ve posted above. I mean, come on. Priceless.

Photo galleries will just be interspersed with the site, don’t worry me and Ahor are still blogging up a storm as always.

And you know, just out of curiousity, what else would you guys like to see more of, less of on OTR? I'm always open to suggestions in terms of content, layout, etc.

If there are going to be photo galleries, why not hire photographers who actually know where things are happening and not third rate parties full of fat GDIs.

As for what would be good, wouldn't mind more Greek mythology or JQ's witty commentary about the different bars on campus and the stereotypes of them. Frankly, more stuff about the campus that you would have to experience to know anything about. Posted 10/17/2008 2:30 PMReply

Here's what I figure. UofM OTR isn't the only OTR that is adding "Photo Gallery" to its site. If you go on the main OTR page, UCLA is doing the same.

Yeah, more Greek-related events & Greekmythology would be more funny- Skeeps isn't the place to be this year on most nights. 1st of all, Skeeps is dead because of the AAFD. 2nd, you new 21 year olds probably don't realize that 1-2 years ago, Skeeps was the cream of the crop. Rick's is finally enjoying a nice wave, because of Skeeps fall from grace and the convenience of a good location. They are also doing a fine job of marketing. Comparing Skeeps in its prime to Ricks now is like putting Barry Sanders vs. Adrian Peterson. We will see if Ricks can keep the ball rolling. Skeeps use to be fun because they let anyone in with a shitty fake, and because of this they could target good looking girls and rich guys, making a good business and a good crowed. Now that the "AAFD" NOT TRUE has majically made everyone that use to go into skeeps turn 21 and find new places to go... Rick's, 5th Quarter. So now that the new AAFD is stricter if Skeeps can only have 375 people in there they are going to have to be 21 for once, unlike 1-2 years ago when they would cram 700 people in there and deal with the mips because everyone was making bank. In conclusion, at capacity skeeps has to limit to people that are 21 that actually go there... Eastern kids. Skeeps has always sucked, but when it is packed with hot ass 18/19 year old girls and rich guys you deal with the smell and barn wood on the walls. Skeeps will be closed within a year.
