World Cup Fever: Netherlands Vs. Slovakia, Brazil Vs. Chile

Arjen Robben Dancing His Way Across the Field

Over the weekend, the United States suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of Ghana, effectively ending their bid for the World Cup and killing any remaining interest in the sport for many Americans. However, for the rest of us, the show goes on with eight teams still battling for World Cup supremacy.

Today, the Netherlands, led by legendary footballer Arjen Robben, take on Slovakia, and the five-time champion, Brazil, goes toe-to-toe (pun intended) with Chile.

At the time of publication, the Dutch lead 1-0 at the half. Unsurprisingly, Rodden, the crusher of World Cup dreams, scored the goal in question by tap dancing around Slovakia’s Swiss cheese-like defense.

You can expect nothing short of poetry-in-motion whenever Robben takes the field. After all, he is the super human responsible for shocking France at Euro 2008 with this goal:

If you aren’t watching the game, tune in now for the second half where I expect Rodden will score a goal blindfolded from the bench.

As for Brazil and Chile, their game doesn’t begin until 2:30 (EST), but armchair pundits are expecting the former champions to steamroll the underdogs.

I, on the other hand, have faith -- a fool's foolish faith.
