WTF of the Day: Study Finds Lesbian Teens Seven Times More Likely To Get Pregnant

A study of students in British Columbia—that’s in Canada, if you didn’t know— published in the Canadian Journal of Human Sexuality has found that lesbian and bisexual teens are seven times more likely to become pregnant than heterosexual ones.

How does this make any sense?

Well, it doesn’t, but researchers surveyed nearly 30,000 high school students over the last 16 years. So, one must assume that the results are based on actual concrete data – at least, to some degree.

Pinke.biz reports:

The statistics from the study found that 10.6% of girls who identified as bisexuals reported becoming pregnant at some time before or during the study, while 7.3% of lesbians reported becoming pregnant. A mere 1.8% of heterosexual girls reported pregnancies, although the much larger sample size of heterosexual girls meant that the 1.8% of heterosexual pregnancies were greater in number than the pregnancies of lesbian and bisexual women.

Ah, so it’s a percentages game we’re playing here, huh?

That explains it, and it also proves how 73 percent of all studies are complete and utter nonsense.

That is, of course, if you believe at least 32 percent of what I have said within 81 percent of my words on this page.
