WTF of the Day: UA Student "Allegedly" Leaves Newborn Baby to Die In a Bag, Baby Decides To Live Instead

You Have To Be A Real Douchebag To Hurt Something This Cute

After giving birth to a baby boy last Monday, Sarah Tatum, 19, reportedly placed him in a large bag, along with her dirty laundry, and left him to die. When later questioned as to why she was a soulless human being, she told police that she thought she had had a miscarriage.

However, herein lies the problem with Tatum’s improbable, ill-conceived excuse: doctors identified the baby as being full-term, i.e. fully gestated for nine months. Miscarriages are premature fetuses that are naturally aborted during the first 20 weeks of pregnancy, according to the Google gods.

See what I’m getting at? There’s no way the baby was miscarried; in fact, there’s no way Tatum could’ve possibly thought that at all, because it was still moving when the authorities found it gasping for air two hours later—meaning when it came out of Tatum it must have exhibited signs of life at the time of birth.

This is a simple case of an irresponsible teenager, who freaked out when it came time to be an adult and take responsibility for her actions.

Thankfully, the baby is alive; it’s currently suffering from hypoxia, oxygen deprivation, but with some luck, it should live and get a real chance at life.

As for Tatum, there are no words. Hopefully, the book is thrown at her head.
