Your Daily Dose of Awesome: Conan O'Brien Plays 1860s Baseball

Last Friday, Conan O’Brien’s tenure as the host of “Late Night” came to an heartfelt end with special guest appearances by Will Ferrell dressed as George W. Bush, a performance by the reunited White Stripes and, of course, the return of O’Brien’s former co-host, Andy Richter.

Naturally, as the show’s final episode, Conan and Andy spent most of their time reminiscing about many of the hilarious sketches from the past sixteen years, including the one most requested clip by fans in which Richter ends up naked on the Today Show with Matt Lauer.

However, the highlight of the evening, aside from Conan’s emotional goodbyes, was when the soon-to-be “Tonight Show” host named his personal favorite: playing 1860s baseball with some loonies from Long Island.

Now, I’m not sure how much of this clip was staged for the benefit of the cameras, but I’m willing to believe that there are people in this world that, while physically located in the present, are mentally in another time and place. And so, I find that the existence of a camp where people dress up as men and women from the Civil War era, while absurd, is certainly plausible.

Granted, only one person in this video appears to be taking this fantasyland routine a wee bit too seriously, but you’re known by the company you keep.
