Less than two months after Managing Editor Marcus Brauchli left The Wall Street Journal, one of his top deputies has announced he will leave for a post at Columbia University.

In a memo to staffers Wednesday, provided to E&P, Bill Grueskin, deputy managing editor for news, revealed he will leave the paper to become dean of academic affairs at Columbia's Graduate School of Journalism.

Brauchli, who spent less than a year at the top post, stepped down April 22, replaced by Robert Thomson. Both departures follow last year's takeover of the Journal by News Corporation.
