Howard University alumnus David Oliver earned a place in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games after winning the 100m hurdles in the US Olympic Trials. Hailing from Denver, Colorado, the former Bison received the best mark of the quarterfinals at 13.07 seconds.

While at HU, Oliver won four MEAC championships in 110m hurdles, and holds three of the world’s top five times for the event. Oliver’s May 12.95 time was second to the World Record of 12.87 held by Dayron Robles.

Another Olympic Trial Qualifier and All American honoree, Landria Buckley, had a career best time of 13.24 seconds at the NCAA nationals. Finishing 26th in the women’s 110m hurdles, Buckley was one of few collegians competing in that event at Hayward Field. She needed to place 24th to qualify for the quarter finals.
