Staying in NYC for Thanksgiving?

Going home for Thanksgiving is a tradition for most students, but even mom’s best cooking may not compete with the offerings of New York City’s finest chefs. Here are a few of the best bites in the big apple:

If you will be alone on Thanksgiving, don’t fret! Uptown Kitchenette (1272 Amsterdam) offers “Thanksgiving to Go” with all your favorites, from turkey and stuffing to cranberry relish and pumpkin pie. Don’t forget to order at least half a dozen buttermilk biscuits, and make sure to order by November 24. If you have plans with friends, Sylvia’s soul food restaurant (328 Lenox Ave) and The E.U. (235 East 4th), a “European gastropub,” offer the most reasonably priced pre-fixe Thanksgiving feasts. But why confine yourself to traditional Thanksgiving fare? For the same price, you can enjoy an eclectic mix of Thai-French fusion foods at trendy Vong (200 East 54th). Finally, if you are lucky enough to stay in New York and have family around to pick up the tab, see if they will spring for the $115 pre-fixe meal at Craft (43 East 19th), Tom Colicchio’s restaurant. It will definitely give you something to be thankful for…
