Voting Now Guaranteed to Pay Off: Columbia Students Rake in the Free Stuff

Just in case you aren't buying the whole "every vote counts" and "your future, your choice" lines, here are a couple of tangible incentives to go out and vote:

First, free coffee! Granted, it is only a tall cup of Starbucks coffee, so your venti caramel macchiato will still set you back six bucks, and I can't help you if you only patronize independent coffee shops. However, when a struggling, overpriced establishment is giving something out for free in a time of economic crisis, you know something important is going on.

Second, free doughnuts! Krispy Kreme is offering cute little star shaped doughnuts as rewards for all the good citizens who go out and vote. Elementary school teachers have it all wrong: rather than giving out gold star stickers, they should give out stickers and then star shaped treats.

Third, free ice cream! There are few things I enjoy more than Ben & Jerry's, and a free scoop of any flavor sounds like a pretty sweet offer. Plus, they are dishing out free ice cream until 8 PM, so you can munch while celebrating as the networks start to call states for your candidate or use the free treat to wash the bad taste of losing out of your mouth. Either way, I recommend going for the Stephen Colbert endorsed Americone Dream.

All this plus a free "I Voted" sticker! What more could you ask for? The answer to that question is actually easy to find with a few minutes of googling. Turns out dozens of local businesses across the country are giving away everything from cheesecake to vibrators. Who says the democratic process isn't delicious and sexy?
