Virgin Mobile and National Network For Youth (NN4Y) are asking teens and tweens to help clothe the homeless...by taking off their own clothes. The Strip2Clothe campaign encourages kids to make a video of themselves stripping and post it online. A certain amount of clothing will then be donated for every view each video receives.
Well, it may be hard to believe, but that has become controversial. Many Christian charities who are set to benefit from Strip2Clothe are horrified by the idea behind the campaign. NN4Y is also facing internal resistance from members who were not informed of the nature of the project before the organization signed on.
Although the rules of Strip2Clothe clearly state that video submissions are not to contain any nudity, the idea of asking a young audience to get an early start on the release of scandalous pictures and videos does not sit well with many. The campaign has provided over 150,000 articles of clothing for homeless youth, however.
