Dartmouth Students Party Too Hard at Homecoming Bonfire, Burn Themselves on Embers

Booze, bonfire and burns – try saying that three times fast.

Better yet, don’t. Instead, let’s all laugh at the two Dartmouth students who somehow managed to burn themselves early Saturday morning on the extinguished remains of the Homecoming bonfire.

According to The Dartmouth, one of the two students fell into the embers and burned his hands when he attempted to get up. Unsurprisingly, he was intoxicated at the time. The other one sustained his injuries after accepting a dare from friends to walk across the coals.

Seriously these are Ivy League students?! Oh wait, it’s Dartmouth.

Still, every cloud has its silver lining:

No freshmen were arrested during the bonfire for trying to “touch the fire.” Last year two attempts led to arrests for disorderly conduct.

Only six students were arrested this year during the bonfire, down from 11 last year.

“Six arrests made at the bonfire is extremely low,” Giaccone said. “It was lower than it has been for the last several years.”

At least the Class of 2012 knows better than to try and play with fire. That’s got to count for something, right?

To clarify, I was the student that fell into the fire.
I was not intoxicated at the time, they took blood for a BAC measurement on my ambulance ride. That's why I am not arrested. Your ridicule really offends me, because I suffered a terrible accident after tripping and falling into the coals.

"burned his hands when he attempted to get up."
I don't know what the author of this statement would do when falling into a hot bed of coals, but i landed on my left hand and pushed out with my right in order to quickly roll out of the fire. Maybe, the author would suggest I remained in the fire and let my flesh cook? Was that the sensible solution? I would really love if you tried to find better sources than the sensationalist "Dartmouth." Also the fact that i have 2nd degree burns to my hands is not a matter for derogatory statements, maybe you should research better.
