OTR Called It: Princeton Tigers Crushed by University of Maryland Terps

I hate to say ‘I told you so,’ but I did.

The Princeton Tigers field hockey team choked yesterday during their game against the No. 2 UMD Terrapins, effectively ending their chances of becoming a top-10 team and entering the NCAA tournament.

To say it was a beating would be a gross understatement. The Terps dominated the game from start to finish and ended the night with a 5-0 victory over the sluggish Tigers.

Going into yesterday’s game, the concern amongst Tigers fans was that, because Princeton hadn’t played a game since October 5th, they would be unprepared for the relentlessness of the Terps.

Sadly, their worst fears came to fruition, as the Tigers were visibily fatigued early on and quickly fell apart in the second half.

The Daily Princetonian elaborates on repercussions of their embarrassing defeat:

With the loss, Princeton falls to 2-2 against ranked opponents, which is disappointing for the Tigers, as a win would have solidified hopes for a postseason run.

There’s always next year, Tigers.
