Ugly Art Splurges
Every once in a while, our school decides to flaunt its wealth through art pieces. Sometimes these pieces turn out to be great additions to the scenery, other times, not so much.

Current students may remember avante-garde artist Wenda Gu's hair exhibit. It was purported by some sources to have cost the college around $1.5 million, though the school later denied such a high price. Billed as the most important commission of a public artwork by Dartmouth since the Orozco murals, it nonetheless received the ridicule of too many.

Not to be outdone by itself, Dartmouth then purchased a pile of stones, seen above. It sits misplaced outside of McNutt, like the remnants of a late-night drunken endeavor. Without a plaque or sign, not much is known about this manifestation of the administration's creativity. it merely throws off the aesthetics of McNutt and provides a number of nice round door stoppers.
