So, I am officially back on Duke property.  I'm at the Duke Marine Lab, gearing up to take Physics 53...with all of the other Duke slackers.

It must be a yearly ritual now.  The students most terrified of forces, accelerations, circuits, and such flock to the Marine Lab to play on the beaches and occasionally calculate velocities.  Go us!

The student body here at the Marine Lab is quite interesting in comparison to the student body during the school year.  Just from a cursory glance, there are far fewer minorities and many more females percentage-wise than during the Fall and Spring.  Now, why is that?

Well, I'm glad you asked!  Here are a few possible reasons why:
1)    Women like to be the beach, especially non-minorities.  The need to tan is significantly higher for this breed.
2)    Non-minorities are the only ones that can stand eating spaghetti and meatballs four or five times a week.
3)    Females and non-minorities are often stereotyped as having poorer mathematical and analytical science skills, and as a result, they feel compelled to find the easiest "out."
Ehhh...maybe not.  THIS *points both thumbs at self* non-minority can't wait to get on the beach and attempt to contemplate kinetics and thermodynamics.  Time to slllacccckkk.
