For those dedicated enough, "Black Friday", the day after Thanksgiving shopping extravaganza, can hold amazing deals and price cuts. The only catch? Waking up as early as 4 in the morning and fighting the huge crows that will inevitably form.
If you've never shopped on Black Friday, it's something you should probably experience at least once in your life. There's even an entire website dedicated to the day that is every shopper's fantasy/nightmare. This Friday might be blacker than usual with a dismal economy and less shopping, but could also be just the boost retail needs right now. Plus, it can be a great time to start your Christmas shopping.
Who really has the best Black Friday deals today? Let me break it down for you:
-Kohl's opens at 4 AM and has markdowns averaging around 50-75% off on a huge bulk of the store including apparel and home goods.
-Retail behemoth Walmart opens at 5 AM with their already low prices marked down to as little as $388 for a flat screen TV, $2 DVDs, and kid's toys for $10.
-Electronics lovers should check out Best Buy at 5 AM to save big on digital cameras for $60, gps systems for $80, and Cd's for $6.
-Old Navy has a more limited sale, but with good deals on much needed winter clothing and including an mp3 player with a $20 purchase.
-One of my personal favorites, Ikea is including a free breakfast before 10:30 am along with their day of sales.
If the whole ordeal sounds a little overwhelming to you, there's still hope. A lot of stores are offering their same sale prices online as well. Some purely internet retailers are having black Friday events of their own:
-Amazon.com is having good deals on mp3 players, TVs, and home items.
-Trendy clothing retailer, Shopbop.com is offering $50 off $250 purchases and free ground shipping.
Happy Shopping!

It's a free service that tracks prices of products from online stores (like amazon) and sends you an email when the price drops. You can set a target price or be notified when it falls by a certain percentage. Might be a nice way to make sure you're getting the best deals this holiday season. Posted 11/26/2008 4:49 PMReply
