Hours of float and banner preparation, stocking up on tailgate supplies for the big game, and canceled Friday classes.. it must be Homecoming Week! Although Homecoming in college doesn't involve hours of primping for the big dance like in high school it amounts to an even crazier week.

Sunday of this week was the annual Warchant concert. This year's featured Lupe Fiasco and Augustana. I understand that they're trying to appeal to a wider audience but I wish they'd just pool the money and book a bigger act. Our fellow Tallahassee college, FAMU gets acts like Lil Wayne, T.I, Plies, and T-Pain at their Homecoming concert.

Monday was Spear-It Night and Big Fan on Campus, a pep rally for the Saturday night football game with performances by talented singers, dancers, and even magicians. Big Fan on Campus is a battle between students to claim the title as the biggest Seminole sports fan.

Tuesday was Seminole Showdown; a day of games to inspire competition between the groups participating in Homecoming from Greek life to service organizations.

Wednesday's usual Market Wednesday activities in the union will be taken over by Homecoming activities, expect freebies! Skit Night, starting at 5 PM will be at the Moon is a competition featuring skits mostly by fraternities and sororities.

Thursday is Renegade Recess at the Old IM fields and hosts 300 local Tallahassee elementary school students. Each organization creates a game for the students and volunteers as a tribute to the service of FSU students.

Friday is the parade downtown at 2 P.M. with floats and the Marching Chiefs should have you feeling extra school spirited. PowWow is also Friday at 8 P.M. featuring comedian Jimmy Fallon, but make sure you buy tickets ahead of time!

Saturday is the Homecoming football game against Boston college. This is a huge game for us and really important if we want to make it to the ACC championships in December. It's also a black-out game so fans are supposed to wear a black Noles shirt to the game.

Some of the events can be a little cheesy, but one of the best parts of going to FSU is all of its long lasting traditions, so enjoy the week!
