New Sex Patch Turns Women On

Men have Viagra and now women may have the sex patch. A Miami-Dade pharmaceutical company is partnering with Procter & Gamble to develop this miracle sticker that will rev women's sex drives.

Sexual problems aren’t only for the menopausal – even younger women can need a boost in the bedroom. In fact, the problem is widespread enough that the University of Miami will soon open a clinic to treat such issues.

So how does the patch help the horniness? Surprisingly the key is testosterone. The Miami Herald explains:

A hormone generally associated with men, testosterone is also found in women. It's not clear why it has a role in female sexual desire, but it does, said Richards-Bullock [an obstetrician-gynecologist at the University of Miami].

For many women, the problem is that taking an injection of testosterone, such as given to men, can have unwanted side effects, such as chin hair, male-pattern baldness, a deepening of the voice and acne, the UM doctor said.

The theory is that administering the hormone through a patch allows small amounts to seep into the skin slowly, thus avoiding the more serious side effects, she said, although that would need to be proved through trials.

Hopefully this theory pans out because women with a sexual appetite: good… Bearded women with a sexual appetite: not so good.
