So apparently winning isn’t everything. Take University of Miami for example. The team has certainly not been on the top of its game, but that hasn’t stopped the NFL from coming calling.
The Palm Beach Post blog, Inside the Dolphins, reports:
The NFL announced Wednesday that The U has the most players in the league, for the third consecutive season. Miami has 44 players on NFL rosters, following 42 in 2006 and 46 in 2007.
Pretty impressive indeed. Check out the entire Top 10 List of the Most-Represented Schools in the NFL:
1. Miami — 44
2. Florida State — 37
3. Georgia — 36
4. Michigan — 36
5. Ohio State — 36
6. LSU — 35
7. Tennessee — 34
8. Texas — 34
9. USC — 32
10. Florida — 30
While for now Miami can hold this honor over the heads of all those cocky “our-teams-win-everything” University of Florida students, can it really last?
Soon, some of these former Hurricanes will inevitably retire. With the school’s football team not at its best, it’s less likely current UM players will take their place.
So, Miami, enjoy it while it lasts. Diamonds are forever, but football supremacy is fleeting.
