We're finally feeling the effects of a season change in Tallahassee. Along with the cooler weather October brings the opportune time to watch scary movies; a plus if accompanied by pumpkin carving and spiked apple cider. Scary movies can be cheesy and have poor special effects, but sometimes they're so bad that they're good.
Even if you're not a fan of horror films, these movies are worthy of a Blockbuster trip. So, open the windows to let in the crisp fall air, keep the lights dimmed, and find some friends to scream with in case you get too scared.
My Top 10 List of Scary Movies (in no particular order)
1. Halloween: An oldie but goody. The horror film that spurred a hundred imitators.
2. Scream: You'll never be able to see people in those Scream masks and not think about this movie.
3. Texas Chainsaw Massacre: Jessica Biel & company stumble upon a twisted Texas ghost town. I still get shivers down my spine when I hear chainsaws.
4. Dawn of the Dead: A town is taken over by bloodthirsty zombies, you never know who will be the next to turn.
5. Amityville Horror: Um Ryan Reynolds. Enough said.
6. Nightmare on Elm Street: The special effects are laughable now, but Freddy Kreuger is just as scary.
7. Urban Legend: A serial killer comes on a college campus, committing urban legend related murders of co-eds.
8. The Ring: Ah, I remember going to see this with all my friends in middle school... "7 days"
9. The Hitcher: If this movie doesn't prevent you from picking up hitchhikers, nothing will.
10. Saw: A scary movie that actually makes you think, so twisted yet you can't stop watching.
