Vandy's Corbin Considering Becoming Oregon's Baseball Coach
Oregon Athletic Director Pat Kilkenny isn't wasting any time searching for a baseball coach to launch the new program in 2008. Kilkenny has been flying around the country meeting with and interviewing multiple candidates; the Ducks AD has reportedly already offered the job to Oregon State coach Pat Kasey, who is coming off back-to-back national championship seasons with in-state rival Oregon State. Although this report hasn't been confirmed by the athletic department, Kasey is believed to have turned down the offer anyway.

Next on the list for Kilkenny is
Vanderbilt head coach Tim Corbin, who visited Eugene over the weekend to talk to Kilkenny about the position and the newly reinstated program in general. Corbin is coming off a record-setting season at Vandy in which he went 54-13. Whoever ends up taking the helm of Oregon baseball, it won't be an easy job.

In the spring of 2009 Oregon will field a team with just 4 scholarships; they will not be able to give out the full limit (11.7 scholarships) until four years later in 2013. What Kilkenny does with this hire will go a long way toward determining his legacy and imprint at the University.
