When the Truth is Stranger Than Fiction: The Facebook Edition

When the Truth is Stranger Than Fiction: The Facebook Edition
Do you know what would be 100x more useful slash awesome than "Sex Signals," peer advisors, and frat parties combined? This amazing NYU frosh seminar, documented by pretentious people's rag of choice, the New Yorker (also great for covering your US Weekly on an El trip - try it sometime!)

The seminar, 'Facebook in the Flesh,' consists of a dean explaining to wide-eyed, carpal-tunnel stricken young students about the benefits of stepping away from the computer. None come immediately to mind, but apparently NYU is way ahead of the curve on this one and has several outlined, along with sheets listing helpful conversation starters ("What do you think of this workshop so far?" Brill!)

But the most  obvious example of the benefits of face-to-face communication had to be this reporter's conversation with a "Facebook addict" - self-proclaimed, because Facebook disabled his account after too much frenzied friending. That type of social networking is exactly what we need here. Get this kid to Northwestern, stat!
