You may be wondering about the picture above. As you might have guessed--not a real hand. As you might not have guessed--placed in butcher window not by disgusting little brothers but rather by Showtime marketing geniuses.

Let me explain.

In an effort to find a new favorite TV show this summer (Has anyone else noticed the considerable absence of anything worth watching? Weeds has been okay, I guess, and I do keep meaning to start Secret Diary of A Call Girl, but so far I've had to remain content with Tivo-ed Law&Order: SVU), I stumbled upon this cool article detailing promotions for the Showtime series Dexter (Clicking the link will explain the presence of the sevred arm). Dexter is about a Miami guy who, in his free time from police work, brutally murders people. The catch is that he only kills serial killers. What with the genius advertising--come on? Posing a fake murder victim on the street to promote a TV show--I had to check it out.

Three episodes in, I'm hooked! Anyone who likes a little humor and a side of emotions with their murder mysteries must must must tune in right away. Until the fall, this will definately be my show of choice. Episodes are available via ITunes.
