100 Days 'Till THON - We're Not Making Fun, We Don't Have a Death Wish

If you were anywhere near the HUB Wednesday you saw that the official countdown to THON has begun. It's now 100 days (or actually 99 by now) until THON begins at the Bryce Jordan Center for 46 hours of dancing to raise money "for the kids" (as Safeguard Old State Says: "THON used to be a full 48 hours, but Graham Spanier forced the world's largest student-run philanthropy to cut it down to 46 hours for no good reason"). Usually this blog is full of snark and sarcasm, but when it comes to THON we don't joke ... mostly because we're scared of you THON folks.

Wednesday (and apparently through Thursday as well) the HUB was filled with THON balloons, THON t-shirts, THON stickers. The Collegian has some nice pictures of the event, although you're seriously making it hard for us to steal pictures guys.

It made for a nice atmosphere, and it's great to see people so into what they're doing, especially when it raises $5.2 million dollars for charity. But come on. When you have a sign telling people they can get their picture taken with JoePa, how about at least having a guy dressed up like him. Not one of those things you stick your head in like at an amusement park.

So, the snark is on hold for now. Unless some of you want to make sarcastic THON-related comments, feel free. But don't complain when some Greeks start kicking your ass.
