9-0-(Way Older Then 16)-2-1-0

As I sit here watching an episode of the new 90210 I am struck with a thought, why is it that all shows about teenagers have twenty something year old actors playing teens? All of the “teenagers” are old enough to have degrees from 4 year universities.

For instance Naomi Clark played by Annalynne McCord is 22 years old, that’s about 6 years older than her barely 16 year old character. You know what happens in 6 years to the female body? A lot of stuff, most 16 year old girls are lucky enough to fill out a B cup without stuffing their bras.

The actors playing these teens have beautiful clear skin and a full head of weave. I’m 20 and I didn’t start to remotely look like I belong on 90210 until I left high school, and these kids are suppose to be 15 and 16 years old.  What message does that send to young women?  Most people do not look like this until their 20's.

All I am saying is that maybe the shows out right now should be a little more accurate with the age of the actors, because when the youngest cast member can buy cigarettes and beer for the older cast members you know there is a problem with casting.

I couldn't agree more. In the episode where Naomi was celebrating her sweet 16 i was thinking it must be some kind of joke. They are blatantly older than high school age.. but i still can't stop watching :X Posted 10/02/2008 11:57 AMReply

eh, this is always true on teen soaps. nobody wants to watch a show of ugly people, it's the truth. Posted 10/02/2008 6:11 PMReply
