Call Me When You Book That Girl Who Sang "Unwritten"

Looks like the Lampoon's bringing more not-quite-A-list celebs to its haunts this weekend:

Who: Regina Spektor
Where: East end (back) of the Harvard Lampoon Castle
When: 8:15 pm tomorrow (10/12), rain or shine

wait... do you not know anything about music? regina spektor isn't a radio-hit, but she's definitely a talented artist. plus who do you want? soulja boy? Posted 10/13/2007 12:01 PMReply

Totally agree...Regina Spektor is a very talented artist who a lot of students here admire. The lampoon seems like it's really putting its act together this year in contributing to the Harvard community, and just because you seem bent on criticizing everything here you shouldn't be calling their guests "B-list" celebs. I completely disagree - the Lampoon (if it's doing anything) is hurting the Harvard community.

The Lampoon played a horrible prank on those waiting to see Braff (made them wait 2+ hours, then had a Skype conversation with Braff, followed by about 20 minutes with him). And Regina Spektor didn't perform for Harvard at all - she peeked outside of the Castle a few times and a rode a bicycle, but that was it.

If you're going to bring someone to Harvard (and use the lure of meeting Harvard students to do so), you shouldn't selfishly keep that person to yourself. Or if you are going to - don't trick naive freshmen and others into standing outside of your castle or waiting in line for hours.

The Lampoon has consistently proven that they are:
(1) not funny (I think the lack of humor in recent issues is flagrantly obvious)
(2) unnecessarily exclusive (produce a funny magazine before passing judgement on other actually funny people)
(3) embody the ethos of snooty privilege and self-centered behavior that those at Harvard have trying to fight as a stereotype for years.

The Lampoon hasn't gotten its act together - it has just upped its level and visibility of ****-ish behavior at the expense of the Harvard community at large.
