What’s worse than suffering an embarrassing defeat at the hands of your bitter rivals? Suffering through two of them – on the same day.
Needless to say, Saturday won’t be a day that the Brown Bears soon forget, as both the men and women’s teams were crushed by the Harvard Crimson.
For the men’s team, this loss was particularly crushing, because they were ranked No. 1 going into Saturday’s game. Thanks to their 4-1 defeat, however, the Brown Bears, the current defending Ivy League Champions, were knocked into second place.
Who’s the new No. 1? You guessed it – Harvard.
For the women’s team, the story was the same – squandered opportunities and shoddy defensive plays that ultimately led to a 3-0 shutout victory for the Crimson.
Since the women’s team was neither ranked No. 1 nor the defending Ivy League Champions, the loss wasn’t as great – but still wholly embarrassing.
Congratulations to Harvard for taking away the one thing Brown was really good at: playing soccer.
