In college it’s easy to get pigeonholed based on stereotypes: frat boy, theater nerd, crazy Christian, gay best friend.
In real life though, away from the university bubble, you may find yourself redefining who you are. For gospel singer Ray Boltz that meant coming out publicly. No big deal, right? It seems like celebs are coming out of the closet left and right these days (although Clay Aiken, we’re still waiting on you…)
But for Boltz there’s one minor difference. He’s a Christian and not just one of those “woo hoo it’s Christmas, so I love Jesus” kind of Christians. He’s the kind that’s sold 4.5 million LPs, cassettes and CDs based on Christianity. A lot of times the whole homosexuality thing doesn’t go over so well with the religious thing. Gay and Christian is as hard to admit to as Gay and Fraternity Guy usually is. Still, Boltz couldn’t keep pretending.
The Washington Blade has the story:
“I didn’t make a big deal of it,” Boltz says during a 90-minute phone interview from his home in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. “But I was trembling. I’d kind of had two identities since I moved to Florida where I kind of had this other life and I’d never merged the two lives. This was the first time I was taking my old life as Ray Boltz, the gospel singer, and merging it with my new life. Emotionally it was kind of a big deal to think about that.”
Ray Boltz was tired of living a lie.
It’s not too surprising that Boltz kept his secret gay identity in Florida. After all, the state is home to South Beach, the gay mecca of America (outside San Fran of course).
Congrats on the bravery Boltz. At OTR, we salute you.

Stumble It

We have no idea if Clay Aiken is homosexual, asexual, repressing his sexuality or whatever. LEAVE HIM ALONE !
It is his life and he does not owe us an explanation to why he does or doesn't do something.
I would hate to be in his shoes with EVERYONE scrutinizing every move. Only God alone knows heart of each of us. It is He that we all have to answer to. Posted 09/13/2008 12:14 PMReply
Stupid question. But so is: is it a choice or is a person born to be gay? Does God accept or condemn? No one knows the answer to either it's speculation, whether based on fact, science or religion. And as for the bible, well it depends on who's interpreting the scriptures. Posted 09/13/2008 12:59 PMReply
In the end, we're all just trying to live the best way we can. Posted 09/13/2008 2:41 PMReply
So were Ray Boltz's wife and his kids - and Ray actually concieved his children without IVF. Posted 09/13/2008 4:34 PMReply
Also, in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 (New King James Version) he tells just that homosexuals will not inherit the kingdom of God. So really what good is it to profess to be a Christian if you can never live in heaven with God?
9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals,[a] nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. The lives it will save will be significant. For those who are judging (oops..a sin) walk a mile in someone's shoes who doesn't believe what you have interpreted. I am reminded of the refrigerator magnet which says...If God didn't want any Gay people, HE wouldn't have made any. Congrats Ray..you are bold enough to go forward with a message that will help our youth survive instead of the message that they are sinners and deserve less than the love of Jesus. Not trying to be mean, but wake up America. No better yet WAKE UP CHURCH! (A whole new subjet) The Failed Church: There will come a day when America will be united better then we've been before. Not the same as it was, not the how it is now. But truly "One Nation Under God" United in Love, Not Lust!
And of course "Blood Lust" yep you guessed it, the murdering of little babies, little would be fathers, mothers, inventors, scientists with cures, musicians, and so forth. We have lost many of our precious treasures through Abortion. Posted 09/15/2008 1:28 PMReply

It's impossible to tote the politically correct line of thinking and Kingdom of God thinking @ the same time. Sorry y'all, but ya can't have both. By the way, it is amazing to me that all of you have the same name- Anonymous. I guess you can only come out of the closet so far. Posted 09/15/2008 10:30 PMReply

For me Clay is an original thinker with an extra special personality, with a beautiful voice, who has a bit of mystery surrounding him, which I feel is on purpose and working to Clay’s advantage.
Congrats to Clay and Jaymes and Baby Parker. May God bless you all, and keep you close.
Speaking for myself as just one of your fanbase, Clay, please keep your mind open to touring again in not too long of a time, if you will. We all miss you and your voice so much.

Your absolute fan,

I am a Christian and I do believe that homosexuality is a sin, and while that sin does not appeal to me or tempt me, I realize that there are many other sins that do and I must seek God's wisdom and make Godly choices. Our God offers second chances and His grace and forgiveness is complete to those who confess and repent of their sin. My pet peeve are proclaiming Christians who live in contradiction to God's Word and then try to blame God for it. We are big boys and girls . . . we make our choices, and then our choices make us . . . and we reap what we sow, every one of us.
May each of us strive to live a Godly life and die daily to our fleshly desires . . . Posted 09/20/2008 10:47 PMReply
I'm not saying it's easy. I have no doubt that Ray Boltz has struggled his entire life. The only thing we can do now is pray for him and hope that God speaks to his heart. Posted 09/21/2008 06:24 AMReply
Let the Bible interpret itself. In Ezekiel 16:49-50, we are told what the sin of Sodom was:
#1) Prideful arrogance of all they had.
#2) Total lack of charity and concern for those in need.
#3) Haughtiness.
#4) Idolatry.
The New Testament (Brit Hadasha) also has something to say about the sin of Sodom and Gomarrah. It is recorded in Matthew 10:12-15; Mark 6:10-11; and Luke 10:10-12. These verses tell us that inhospitality was the sin of Sodom and Gomarrah. This goes along with what is said in the Old Tastament (Tanakh) in the book of Ezekiel.
People who call themselves Christians, or Jewish belivers, have got to stop taking preconceived ideas and hatreds and then adding them to what the Bible really says!
Just think b4 u decide to put someone down bc it says in the bible its a pitty for anyone to turn a fellow brother away.. btw i think that the oppoisite sex is nasty so the user who said we were nasty needs to rethink how we process things.
BTW WHAT DID JESUS SAY ABOUT HOMOSEXUALITY? NOTHING
HOW MANY TIMES WAS HOMOSEXUALITY REFERENCED IN THE BIBLE?
12--and almost everytime it was with the other word OFFENDER which when is translated back to the greek txt means literally prostitute.
BTW IN THIS CASE WHAT FAMOUS PERSON THAT WAS A PROSTITUTE DID JESUS SHARE MANY TIMES WITH(NON INTIMATELY OF COURSE)
MARY MAGDALINE
HE NEVER TURNED AWAY ANY SO you shouldnt either

:P CHEERS BTW FOR THOSE WHO THINK U CANT DRINK ALCOHOL BC IT WASNT THE SAME IN THE BIBLICAL DAYS UR EXTREMELY WRONG IT SAY IN THE BIBLE ABOUT DRUNKS(DRUNKARDS) BEING ON THE STREETS.. HOW MANY OF YOU BEEN DRUNK ON GRAPE JUICE I THINK THIS IS FUNNY AS ALL GET OUT LOL..
AWESOME RAY YOU GO BUDDY AND FOR CLAY WHO CARES? WE ALL KNOW ANYOW! Posted 09/22/2008 06:25 AMReply
On another note, people are innately born with the ability to commit all sorts of sin. We are born sinners. So in essence, we are born with the ability to choose to be gay or lesbian which is an abominable choice. It is the same as the following: we are all capable of murder, but those who get angry enough to actually do it are not born murderers, necessarily, yet they chose to be a murderer instead of fleeing to the cross of Jesus Christ for forgiveness and grace. If you read the WASHINGTON BLADE article you'll discover, while he, his wife and grown children were challenged deeply
at first, they fully support him and love him as before AS HE CONTINUES TO LOVE THEM THOROUGHLY. Firmly following biblical quotes taken literally and self-righteously (and for some, self-loathing) as "the law" EXCLUDES all other points of view while judging harshly others who wish to express themselves in our democratic society. Who is the saint and who is the sinner? GET IN TOUCH -- angry, saddened stunned, shocked and fingerpointing -- at LOOK WITHIN YOURSELF FOR YOUR TRUE SELF -- not a pretty image! To some up...being a homosexual won't keep you out of heaven.. Practicing homosexually will!!!
After thought.. Just because you have overwelming sexual feelings for another person doesn't mean you can't control yourself. I should take this next bit of advise to heart as well..."Take yourself out of the situation, don't play with temptation. Do what Joseph did when cornered by Potifer's wife....RUN." (Final note..'either the Bible will keep you from sin or sin will keep you from the Bible)..I'll shut up now!! Posted 09/29/2008 11:17 AMReply
Who should we believe, the homosexual who defends his activity, or God who has explicity said it is sin. He destroyed two cities in ancient times because of sexual immorality, and he may do it again. Posted 10/04/2008 6:38 PMReply

Oh, and Jesus never claimed to be God. This sort of picture of the Immaculate Conception was first brought down by Paul. Posted 11/30/2008 7:40 PMReply
gods (Exodus 20) Read John 8:58-59 tied to Exodus 3:13-14 referencing Jesus as I AM. Also John 10:30-33. Jesus was
claiming to be God more than once and that's why they were
trying to stone him for blasphemy. There are many references
in the Bible to Jesus and God as one. Isaiah 7:14 speaks of
Christ's birth...this wasn't something "brought down by Paul"
Why don't you thoughtfully consider a read of the entire book
of John to get additional info. about Jesus. Posted 11/30/2008 8:32 PMReply
