Xavier Henry, a top-ranked shooting guard, finally made a decision about what school to attend next fall. The lucky University of Memphis prevailed, though it was not an easy choice for the basketballer. Henry’s father played at KU, which was wooing Xavier as well, but the deciding factor was another Henry relative.
Xavier’s brother, C.J., is a freshman guard at Memphis. Ultimately Xavier says he chose the Tigers for one last chance to play with his big brother. Plus, that makes going to the games and choosing a team to cheer for a hell of a lot easier for the Henry parents.
Coach John Calipari must be proud of his recruiting skills. Not only did he score both Henrys, but last year he won over the highly touted Tyreke Evans and a former recruit, Derrick Rose, was just the first overall pick in the NBA this year.
There’s just something about Memphis.
