That guy who spends more time at the arcade than the library? He’d probably make a great surgeon.
A number of studies by psychologists working for the American Psychological Association found that certain types of video games may be beneficial for future-doctors. The technological toys can improve problem solving, scientific thinking and suturing skills all at once!
A blog post on Wired.com elaborates:
"The single best predictor of [a surgeon's] skills is how much they had played video games in the past and how much they played now," said Iowa State University psychologist Douglas Gentile.
"The first question you might ask your surgeon is how many of these procedures have you done and the second question is, 'Are you a gamer?"
Seriously?
