McGill '08 Bashes Yale, Cries to Mommy
Two hilarious things about the McGill coat of arms: It has lame sissy birds on it, and it includes the word "****."

Shamelessly stolen from IvyGate: a ranting editorial written by a McGill student who needs to learn a little more about what it's like to live in the real world.

"Card-carrying Communist" Padraic Scanlan, McGill '08, spent a weekend at Yale and decided that qualified him as a New Haven/Yale race-relations expert. Scanlan expressed his shock at the town-gown divide: Yale has gates (no other college does!), Yale has its own police force (most other universities don't!), and someone catcalled to him on the street (the nerve!). His brilliant conclusion:

"But in New Haven, white and young means Yale, and Yale means hatred. Racism is sickening and disfiguring, and Yale makes it worse. Because race and class are so stratified, they reinforce one another. Because Yale students are mostly white and rich, and inner-city New Haven is mostly black and poor, race relations collapse into a kind of mounting negative feedback loop."

Maybe if Padraic had taken the time to check his facts instead of overgeneralizing, he would discover that over 40% of Yalies receive financial aid. Or maybe if Padraic dug that thing out of his ass, he would've enjoyed himself in the "sexist, predatory" party scene here.

On a related note, the McGill Daily needs a new website. Even McGill's Wikipedia page blows and has random bits of HTML floating around on it. Come on, Canada. Your currency may be strong, but apparently your "best and brightest" aren't quite up to par yet.
