Oregon doesn't deserve the stereotype of Patagonia and Birkenstock-clad mountain folk -- Portland, the state's cultural hub, is dedicating itself to fashion.

One of the green city's most posh boutiques, Mario's, is hosting an Italian-themed runway show, unveiling collections from Prada and Dolce & Gabbana during September. Portland Fashion Week also continues this year with more designers and eco-couture in October. Move over, New York.
