Upon my return to school to begin my last two years of college as the upperclassmen that makes fun of all of the freshmen that I once was, I stumbled (literally, thanks to the enormous amounts of alcohol consumed after a very dry summer) into a realization about parties and that realization is this: the older you get, the lamer they get.
 

The beer is bad. The music sucks (especially when they replay the same crappy play list of 12 songs over and over that all belong in an LL Cool J video). The conversation is dull. You are bound to get beer spilled on you (whether on accident by a sloppy drunk or on purpose by a belligerent drunk). The girls are dressed like whores and the guys all look the same. And the list continues.
 

But among all of the social calamities lurks one great thing about attending parties as an upperclassmen and that is the chance to see guys (who are most likely douche bags equivalent to the infamous Tucker Max) hit on the eager-to-please-or-tease freshman girls and FAIL.
 

It’s horrible, I know, but one of my favorite pastimes is watching someone else fail. Does it boost my confidence? Probably. Is it hilarious? Of course! Despite the reasons why I love watching people fail, it is a guaranteed mood booster.

So if you are in a room surrounded by people yet find yourself bored, my advice is to take a look around (searching for the guy trying the hardest but who is clearly going home alone) because the sight of failure ironically never fails to give you a good laugh at a lame party.
