Cops Arrest Woman For Overdue Library Books

The next time you decide to take out thirty books from the school library and return them late – don’t; otherwise, you’ll end up in jail like 20-year-old Heidi Dalibor of Grafton, Wisconsin.

The Associated Press reports:

[Heidi Dalibor] was surprised when officers with a warrant knocked on her door, cuffed her and took her to the police station to be fingerprinted and photographed.

Police Capt. Joe Gabrish says officers follow the same procedure with every warrant.

Library director John Hanson says a couple of dozen people are cited each year for failure to return materials or pay fines.

The incident cost Dalibor about $30 for the two overdue paperbacks.

Wait -- $30 for two paperbacks?!

Who's the real criminal here -- the book-hoarding thief or the people practicing legalized extortion?
