“Is it just me or are these Alabama commitments pretty huge?” Birmingham reporter Ian Rapoport asked on Sunday.
The answer?
Yes, yes, yes.
6-foot-6, 307-pound defensive tackle Quinton Dial just gave his pledge to play for the Crimson this fall, picking Alabama over offers from Auburn, Clemson and Florida.
Although the commitment is non-binding, defensive coordinator Lynn Elkins told BamaOnLine.com that after seeing Florida Dial thought Alabama was better across the board in the things he was looking for in a school.
“He loved [Alabama] and the coaches and he has really enjoyed himself when he has came for visits or camps,” Elkins was quoted. “Quinton has more potential than any kid I have ever coached, and I have coached Willie Wyatt, Sidell Corley and D.J. Fluker. When Quinton learns how to play hard on every down, he will be unstoppable.”
The Clay-Chalkville High star, a four-star prospect and the 26th-best tackle according to Rivals.com, is the fifth lineman recruit on UA’s commitment list.
Dial was reported saying:
“I was going to wait, but Alabama had everything I loved. I am still going to take some visits. I want to see some other schools and enjoy the recruiting process, but Alabama is the school I love.”
