The Pepsi Corporation is partnering with Howard University again -- this time for a nod to Father's Day in the star-studded booklet "Four Weeks for Father." The booklet will feature prominent fathers from the African-American community, including Grammy winning hip hop artist Common, former football player (and Dancing with the Stars contestant) Jerry Rice, and recent Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker and many more.
The booklet will contain quotes from the famous fathers with their thoughts on fatherhood and fathers in the African diaspora.
The key part of the partnership was the opportunity it provided to Howard University Fine Arts students. The talented students of the program submitted designs to be featured on the booklet and the "Four Weeks for Father" website. Nia Lindsey, class of '08, graduated magna cum laude with a degree in electronic studio art, her design was chosen to be featured on all promotional products for the booklet.
It's no surprise that Pepsi-Cola has partnered with Howard University, the company has had a long partnership with the university; Howard University only sells Pepsi-Cola products on campus. Also, a former marketing professor at Howard was the Vice President of Special Operations at PepsiCo.
In addition to partnering with Howard University, Pepsi plans to donate money to the United Negro College Fund. Since Pepsi has always been an open space for the employment of African-Americans and has donated to many African-American educational efforts, the partnership is a perfect fit.
