Recently I began watching 99% of my TV online. I tend to use Hulu and Fancast. Using these sites has allowed me to discover many great shows that I never knew existed, so I figured I would toss some of my new finds out at you guys…one of my new favorites is Dorm Life.

This mockumentary series follows the lives of a bunch of first year (and a second year) students living on the same dorm floor with an abrasive RA that is just SRD!

Even though the episodes are only between 6 and 10 minutes, it has quickly become one of my guilty pleasures. The show speaks to the dorm community lifestyle in such a true fashion...albeit…mildly exaggerated. The antics and dynamics that they have created on the series is really reminiscent of my days in the big ole dorm building, and each of the characters epitomizes the type of people I remember living with my Freshman year:

The Cast/Residents are:

Marshall Adams: The cocky resident advisor who you are pretty sure is homosexual but can’t quite pin it down. Easily aggravated, overbearing, and enforces the rules down to a tee. He also picks out specific individuals on the floor to harass more than others to make himself more of the “alpha male”.

Steph Schwartsman: The stereotypical, overly excited, second year thrown in with a bunch of first year students. She loves dorm life so much that she just had to live there again…but for the most part…people just ignore her rediculousness.

Abigail Brown: Shy and hermit like, she is roommates with the loudest of the bunch (Steph) and rarely leaves her room unless her roomie drags her out. Not only that…she has a secret…DUN DUN DUUUUN.

Mike Sanders: That cool guy who becomes friends with everyone but makes some random mistakes along the way that kinda mess him up for a bit. He’s got the quirky theatre roommate type but they bounce off each other well and get along like bros. The biggest threat to the RA’s alphahood.

Josh Morgan: Mike’s roommate. Very quirky, but likeable and very protective of Mike’s well-being. (probably one of my favorite characters)

Courtney Cloverlock: You know that girl who slept with everyone she could? Yea…that’s this one. Party hard and hardly work, she not only is out of control but she’s Miss Drama, and enjoys screwing others over to make her life seem better…I think I dated you…

Brittany Wilcox: That nice, but very attractive girl that everyone wants but nobody really bothers asking out because they get along with her JUST THAT WELL. She puts up a strong front because shes roommates with the whore, but underneath she is really pretty easily hurt.

Gopher Reed: You can’t tell if hes always stoned or drunk…but you assume he is. Never without his trusty shot glass and best pal roomies. He is part of the trio of guys you would never imagine living together but actually work out in the end. He also falls in love on a whim.

Shane Reilly: That guy who never goes to class but when it comes down to it, is just a fun guy to hang out with. Also another stoned/drunk type, and part of the trio. Him and Gopher become immediate best friends…and he’s got some awesome t-shirt action going on.

Daniel Benjamin (Danny B): The shelted-for-his-whole-life type. Danny B. has never really experienced life, and his greatest social skill is teaching people how tofold their laundry and have fun doing it. He was thrown into the trio and at the beginning it looks like he’s way out of his comfort zone…but even the most uptight of guys can find out they have a wild side. (Another one of my favorite characters)

Then there are some filler characters who just kinda appear as backdrops…they could be just about anyone.

BUT…I digress…the show is awesome, so I say go check it out if you haven’t. Season one is all online, and season two is SUPPOSEDLY coming out this February…so get addicted and filled in NOW, so that in February you can charge full tilt into second semester.
