Photos from Vivid Magazine

There is currently a furor across the pond in England over a topless photo of a student that was printed in the Cambridge magazine Vivid (no, not the porn company). The student appears topless in a lacy thong sitting on a historic bridge, smoking a cigarette. Though unnamed, it’s known that the girl is a student at Homerton College and both she and the magazine are now under fire for the public display of boobies.

Students yesterday said they were shocked at the risque image. One King's College undergraduate, who asked not to be named, said: 'I can't believe she agreed to pose for the magazine.

'Everyone has been talking about it. I'm sure she must regret it now.'

A Clare College student added: 'Lots of students and professors have seen this. It's a risky thing to do when you are studying at one of the top universities in the country.'

Man, England is uptight huh? How many bazillions of naked college girls have we seen in Playboy and Hustler in the US? Granted, the pictures weren’t published in college magazines, but still, same concept. I guess because it’s Cambridge, the uppity capital of the world, it’s a bigger deal.

And of course you want uncensored pics, right? Well, there really aren’t any, but the one on this page might help you out if you have a magnifying glass handy.

I very much doubt other students, if asked, would sound so shocked about this. It certainly would not cause much of a scandal at Oxford, which is at least, if not more, 'uppity'. She looks rather minging anyway. Posted 11/22/2008 04:16 AMReply

Cambridge - the uppity capital of the world. Have you ever been here? Have you ever left your state? No, I thought not. I'm sitting here in my Cambridge College, and I don't feel very uppity. In fact I couldn't give a toss about some girl flashing her bits. She could take the rest of her clothes off for all I (and everyone I know here) cares. Have you considered that it may just be a little bit of media bru-haha to give them something to write about? Posted 11/22/2008 05:50 AMReply

Are you kidding me? There would be a ton more outrage if this happened at an American college -- toplessness is much more mainstream in Britain than the US. Of course the media-at-large is making a big stink about it, but the idea that no one would bat and eye if it happened at Harvard is a joke. Posted 11/22/2008 11:42 AMReply

She represents the people who are trying to break the boundaries. It is just part of the uprising message for the authorities, I think. Posted 11/24/2008 04:27 AMReply

So Britain's uptight? Have you forgotten the storm in AMERICA when Janet Jackson had her "wardrobe malfunction"? Jeez, you were so uptight you even had to invent a phrase to avoid the use of the words topless, nudity or nipple! Britain may not be as relaxed about nudity as the likes of France, the Netherlands, Australia or the Scandinavian countries, but we're waaaaaaay ahead of you guys - we even have to remake TV progs America buys off us so that the Brits see naked humans in bed but you see them wearing clothes! And by the way, we have all the porn magazines you have like Playboy and Hustler, and yes, we also see "bazillions of naked college girls" (well, women with no clothes on anyway). Grow up and get your facts right before you spout ignorant twaddle in future. Posted 11/24/2008 11:02 AMReply

I'm a lecturer at Cambridge University and I assure you no-one is shocked except uptight journalists looking to titillate their geriatric readers. The same quotes from the same students have turned up all over the web - shows how much research they did. Most of us just think it's a laugh. Posted 11/24/2008 3:03 PMReply
