Former University of Virginia Lacrosse Player Will Barrow Found Dead

A former University of Virginia lacrosse player died Saturday in Charlottesville.

Will Barrow was an integral member of UVa’s 2006 lacrosse team that won the national championship. Newsday explains:

Barrow was thrust into the spotlight as a fixture on Virginia's team and earned a reputation as one of the nation's fastest and most athletic defensive midfielders. Before his senior year, Barrow was named All-American and preseason first-team All-ACC by Face-Off Yearbook, a publication that ranks college players.

The 22-year-old midfielder excelled so much so that he was selected 11th overall in the Major League Lacrosse draft. From there he went on to play for the Chicago Machine, scoring three goals in five games.

Charlottesville police are still investigating Barrow's death, though no foul play is suspected.

OTR’s thoughts are with Barrow’s family and friends.
