Iraqi Journalist Throws Not One, but Two Shoes at Bush, Worst. Secret Service. Ever.

This weekend at a press conference in Iraq, an Iraqi journalist threw his shoes at President Bush, who dodged them with cat-like reflexes. No this is not an Onion article. It actually happened.

Throwing ones' shoes is a sign of disrespect in Iraqi culture, and the young journalist has probably earned himself a future in Guantanamo to make the political (and personal) statement.

Can we just comment on how truly awful Bush's Secret Service must be? The guy gets up and is able to get two shoes off before being taken out? If it was a gun he probably could have emptied an entire clip, and as fit as Bush is, even I don't think he would have the Neo-like ability to dodge bullets. I think some people might be getting canned after this one.

Bush shrugged it all off, comparing it to getting flicked off:

"So what if the guy threw his shoe at me?" Bush told a reporter in response to a question about the incident.

"Let me talk about the guy throwing his shoe. It's one way to gain attention. It's like going to a political rally and having people yell at you. It's like driving down the street and having people not gesturing with all five fingers.

"It's a way for people to draw attention. I don't know what the guy's cause is. But one thing is for certain. He caused you to ask me a question about it. I didn't feel the least bit threatened by it."

The only way this could have been better is if Bush picked the shoes up and threw them back at the guy. I can't believe we're even talking about this! Shoes!
