Mascot Match-Up: Kansas State's Wildcat vs. Northwestern's Wildcat

Every week OTR will pit two school mascot’s each other in a fight to the death. Using completely arbitrary criteria, one mascot will be crowned the winner.

Let’s get this cage match started. Today’s contenders: Northwestern University and Kansas State. Northwestern’s mascot is Willie the Wildcat. He’s a lovable feline decked out in purple. K-State’s mascot is Willie the Wildcat. He’s a lovable feline decked out in purple.

It’s originality at its finest.

So who has the edge?

This one’s going to be a hard one considering they are practically the same exact mascot. However, there are no ties in mascot match-up, so here we go:

K-State’s mascot is more intimidating. Plus 1 K-State.

The Willie at Northwestern is based in Chicago, so he's clearly more streetwise. Plus 1 NU.

K-State's Willie's head resembles a cross between a cat and a rodent. Minus 1 K-State.

Northwestern’s Willie smells (Does that sound bad?). Trust me, I’ve stood next to the guy. Minus 1 NU.

The Northwestern wildcat has a full-body cat costume, while K-State has only a head, making it look like a weird cat man. Minus 10 K-State.

Winner: Northwestern’s Willie the Wildcat.

Northwestern's wildcat looks like a fat, lazy cat though. Kansas State's wildcat represents power and strength. Posted 09/21/2009 8:12 PMReply

That, and the Northwestern looks like k-state's old willie/tom/cartoon mascot. Posted 10/22/2009 03:23 AMReply
