Minnesota DFL Cantidate Al Franken To Visit D.C., Meet With Senate

The race is still a toss-up, but Democratic senatorial candidate Al Franken is headed to D.C. regardless. In a move that the party of his opponent, incumbent Norm Coleman, has termed "presumptuous", Franken will meet with Democratic senators to discuss the upcoming recount and do some fundraising.

I don't know that this move is any more "presumptuous" than Norm Coleman declaring himself the winner before the official tally had been ruled, but it does seem like a good opportunity for him to get some desperate, last-minute campaign contributions. Soon, Franken will make another trip to New York City for a fundraising event with Al Gore at a grand per seat.

It's the race that never ends, and we'll be lucky if we find recount results before the middle of December. Once results are in, count on additional court battles coming in contesting results. Hold on to your straw hats, people, election season ain't over yet.
