San Jose State Grad Joey Chestnut Demolishes Pizza Eating Record

Earlier this year competitive eating god Joey Chestnut obliterated Japanese legend Kobayashi in a world-record breaking hot dog eat-off. Now Joey’s moved beyond the dogs and is the new record holder for most pizza slices consumed in ten minutes.

The record was set at the Famous Famiglia pizza-eating contest in Times Square. The previous record was 22 slices in ten minutes by Chicago chef Patrick Bertoletti. And how many did Joey inhale? Forty-five. Yes, he more than doubled the old record and speculation about whether he’s actually some sort of alien matter-annihilating device continues to grow.

Fun fact of the day: Joey Chestnut is one of the only people in the world to ever complete the gallon of milk challenge (in 41 seconds no less).

Wow, 22 slices in 10 minutes is really great but how about one pizza each week starting in 1961? That's my record as to date. Had one last week to keep the string going. You do the math as to how many that is. Posted 10/13/2008 11:26 AMReply

That's about 2500 pizzas. Keep up the good work, Anonymous! Posted 10/13/2008 12:11 PMReply
