"She was a regular girl, a pretty girl, a typical college student," said Dan Lee, a filmmaker who lived down the hall. "She wasn't edgy. She's not the type of girl who would get into trouble."
While NYU Professor Teboho Moja was out of the country, her daughter, Boitumelo "Tumi" McCallum, 20, was found dead on the floor of her bedroom--- decomposed, wrapped in a sheet, between her bed and a wall and surrounded with condom wrappers and various liquors. McCallum's other two roommates, who were subletting an extra bedroom in the family's NYU apartment, said they hadn't seen McCallum in four days but noticed a strange odor from her bedroom.
Authorities are searching for McCallum's boyfriend who was at her apartment Wednesday night for a party. An autopsy was ruled inconclusive, but authorities are treating it as a murder. According to the NY Post, McCallum's love interest was often "possesive" and angry that he wasn't originally invited to her party that night. Before the boyfriend left the party, one roommate said, he stopped at the sink to wash his hands.
So, what happened? Domestic dispute? Sex gone violent? Or is the boyfriend innocent altogether? No answers yet, but when the mystery starts to unfold OTR will be all over it.
In the meantime, cops are prowling around Washington Square Village. If you happen to be there, keep the Mary Jane smoking to a minimum.

This neighborhood now one of the safest; our building complex houses NYU faculty. This isn't usual at all.
From what little I knew of her, I'm surprised that she'd be going out with the sort of low-life who's capable of killing a woman....she could have been with anyone. Posted 08/08/2007 3:23 PMReply

You say you are surprised she'd be going out with a "low-life capable of killing a woman." You MUST be a man. LOL! There are men who abuse and kill women, all over the world, from every walk of life! Rich and poor! Educated and not! Get real! Abusing, controlling, manipulating, and killing a woman had NOTHING to do with what school you went to, what job you do, or how much money you have! Infact, the most wealthy, educated men are the ones a woman really has to worry about, because they can afford to commit a crime, and pay to have it covered-up! GET REAL! START READING!
