We have seen her endure painful public breakups, suffer from several nervous breakdowns and even lose her children but it seems that Britney Spears has come to her senses. Spears has finally crawled out of the abyss and is looking better than ever.

Spears has left head shavings and damaging romances behind and she is trying to get her life back on track. With a new promotional ad for MTV’s VMA awards, an interview with OK! Magazine and a new album in the works, Spears is really shaping up.

The VMA promo ads feature Britney Spears being interviewed by this year's host, English comedian Russell Brand. The most memorable thing about the commercial is the elephant walking around in the background as the two stars chat completely aware of its presence. Gotta love the elephant-in-the-room pun cleverly thrown in!

This week OK! Magazine will run a tell-all interview with the singer herself. If past performance were an indicator of present behavior, Spears would not have landed the gig. Last year, OK! Magazine decided to do an interview and a photo shoot with the pop star that went disastrously wrong. Spears reportedly had a series of meltdowns, refused the help of on-site hair and makeup and her dog even “littered” a Zac Posen gown.

Now a year after her embarrassing interview with OK!, she has just completed an interview with the magazine showing off the new and improved version of Britney Spears. The copy will hit stands this week and is sure to be a big seller.

Father Jamie Spears has taken control of Spears’ affairs and is keeping a watchful eye over the once-successful star. Spears has been seeking comfort and help(?) in fellow nut job Mel Gibson, apparently Spears meets with Gibson often for guidance sessions. She has also been spending a rumored $20,000 on personal training and eating her father’s home cooking.

So as we get closer to the VMA awards on September 7, fans are left to wonder if Spears will once again perform at the VMA's or if the promo commercials are just faking us out. Hopefully MTV will let her perform so she can redeem last year's performance and clean up her tainted reputation.
