Is this REALLY where this belongs?
The magical move out day of August 14 is fast approaching, which means new roommates for some students and a whole year of partying/eating/studying/living debris to clear out of houses and apartments for most. It also means that its time for that battle-worn couch you hooked up on twice in one night to move on to green pastures, namely, the scrap of crab grass that constitutes your front yard, right next to the curb.
But before you junk that heinous floral loveseat from Aunt Muriel, take a look at it. Can you smell or see the evidence of your Mifflin weekend? Is the frame broken from your roommate’s friend’s one-man mosh bonanza? Is it ripped from your ex-girlfriend’s obscenely long necklace snagging it repeatedly? If not, than don’t just leave it on the curb, cart that beast to a donation spot.
The Moving Days program sets up drop off points where students can leave furniture, clothes, food and other household items for St. Vincent de Paul to pick up. Sponsored by St. Paul’s University Catholic Center and University Health Services among others, this year’s drop off points are Mills and Regent (Lot 51 behind McDonald’s), Gorham and Henry (behind Holy Redeemer Church) and Broom and Mifflin (by Cap Centre Foods).
Come on, it’s Wisconsin, surely you have a friend with access to a pick-up.
