If you even remotely follow Northeastern sports you're probably familiar with the statue of Cy Young on campus. Chances are if you've been really drunk coming back from a Mission Hill party, maybe you've struck up a conversation with the hunk of bronze.
If you didn't know, Northeastern actually has a pretty rich sports history. ESPN goes ahead and reminds us this week in their Lost Ballparks and Old Landmarks feature, where they talk about the statue and how NU used to be the Huntington Avenue Grounds, where the first World Series was ever played.
This is all sort of ironic though. You'd think that having this sports nostalgia would rub off on us -- but wait, when was the last time you heard about NU baseball? Good question. Who's the only NU alum who's actually doing anything in the major leagues? Oh yeah, a dude on the Devil Rays. Ouch.
