Penn State Freshmen Banned From Greek Life

In a report released by the Daily Collegian, the director of Greek life at Penn State has prohibited all freshmen from attending any frat social events during their summer session. This is an attempt to fulfill their new policy where “students would be asked to partake in non-drinking events during the fall recruitment period.”

PSU's Greek Life staff hopes that by keeping the freshmen away from fraternities, it will help to enforce the school's new policy and help frats stay out of trouble.

Despite the organization's best efforts, many freshmen have already  violated the new rule, and now face a permanent ban from Greek Life at the university.

This new regulation is heading for disaster. I applaud their efforts in trying to clean up the sleazy image of fraternities and sororities, but how many times do we have to go over this? You cannot stop people (especially college-aged kids) from drinking if they want to.
