Carli Lloyd of Delran, NJ will be Team USA’s midfielder at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The former Rutgers soccer star, along with three other New Jersey natives, will play against Japan and New Zealand but will face Norway first on Aug. 6.

Many athletes dream of making it to the Olympics but few actually do. Lloyd is one exceptional player. By the end of her Rutgers career, she held the all-time record in number of points (117) and goals (50). She has also earned a laundry list of awards. All of these honors make her a valuable team asset and a force to be reckoned with.

Her teammate, Tobin Heath of Somerset Country, is the youngest player on the roster.

With so many excellent players on one team alone, there is no doubt that the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team will wow the crowds and blow the other teams away.
